It's the 1 year anniversary of setting foot in this space. Its been quite a journey, from the very beginnings of hammering away at the old mortar between the stones, to building all the acoustic treatments and ventilation (a very special thanks to @agustiyerro amongst others for all your help), to impatiently waiting months for fitted doors, to trying out every possible speaker placement/room config. And just this last week I've finally patched up all the cables to get a really decent drum recording setup going in here. So it felt like an opportunity to share a photo. I must say I've struggled at points with the level of disruption involved in setting up a new space from scratch, but patience is a virtue and all that - totally worth it and feeling extremely lucky. Looking forward to settling down a bit and working on my craft. I've got some new songs in the making too but hoping to open up and collaborate a bit more with folks ideally. Give me a shout if you're up for projects of your own too! Lots of love X

I couldn't get into the new studio today as the electrician is wiring up the new plug sockets. So to stay focused I got a little nerdy with @ableton and my @sonarworks measurement mic and captured the impulse response (the echo, echo, echo...) of the 3.5 metre deep wine vat located just on the other side studio stone walls, and accessed from a hatch in the floor above! Not sure how old it is exactly, but they used to ferment wine in here. Today I'm fermenting a Simmons SDS800 drum machine, beautifully sampled by @soniccouture

Hey, I've not posted in a while! Been getting my hands dirty building sound treatments for my new studio! A beautiful space with stone walls and even a wishing well! I'm finally at the stage I can set my drums up again and am itching to getting creative again after what feels like an eternity. Will share a proper photo soon but here's a few work-in-progress snaps of the journey so far...

What an absolute pleasure to play at @londondrumstudio ’s 10th anniversary gig last week! Great beer and drum chat was had!

I’ve been wanting to add some Chordsplitter projections for a while now but not had the opportunity until that gig. It really took the show to a new level visually! Stay tuned for more gigs soon (hopefully).

Also, I’ve recently been talking to @ableton ....which has been VERY exciting. Hopefully I can reveal more developments about that soon!

London! I cannot wait to perform here as “Chordsplitter” for the very first time as part of the lineup for London Drum Studio’s 10th birthday gig at @signaturebrewe8 in Haggerston, East London. It's just a matter of days (Wed 26th July)!

What makes this night extra special is the fact the show brings together my two musical babies; the relatively newborn Chordsplitter project and it’s 10 years older sibling, @londondrumstudio. And to top it off, my good pal Joe will be performing with his trio @the_language_of_love_band.

I've always told folks that I'm from Brighton as it's the nearest well known city to my actual hometown. But every time I go back to Brighton, especially more recently, I feel a deep sense of connection and belonging as if it were really my hometown. Partly because I have good friends living there but also because I just feel very happy when I'm there. Looking forward to being back again with the Chordsplitter project!

It was a beautiful thing to play the rooftops of Hotel Pullitzer, Barcelona, warming up for @OfMindMusic, @magalidatzira & @mlamatamusic last week! A massive privilege to have a feature in the latest edition of Digital Drummer magazine exploring the nitty gritty technical details of my approach to e-drumming and Ableton! Thanks to @digitaldrummer for providing such a fantastic resource for us e-drummers since 2010. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s possibly the only magazine specialising in electronic drums.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank @abletondrummer for recently featuring me on his very interesting blog post “A brief history of triggering melodies via drums”. Tobi specialises in making custom Max4Live devices for Ableton and I use a bunch of them to help me perform live.

Saturday’s show was an absolute blast. And zero technical problems. A Miracle. Thanks so much everyone for coming. Can’t wait to share some highlights of the gig with you later on. A personal highlight of mine was Mrs. Chordsplitter bringing my 4 year old son and 2 year old daughter along to watch daddy play for the first time ever. Noah shot the whole thing on his DIY camera - we’re just waiting for the film to develop before I can share his photos 😉

Talking of which, a huge thank you to @hellaaans for filming the whole set!!! Thanks to @moryarty_official and @poblenouud #openday23 for having me. And an extra special thanks to @ofmindmusic for pristine sound, and for being a sound dude.

L'espectacle de dissabte va ser immens! Zero problemes tècnics - un veritable miracle. Moltes gràcies a tots per venir. Tinc moltes ganes compartir amb vosaltres alguns dels moments més destacats del concert. Un dels meus va ser que la Senyora Chordsplitter va portar el meu fill de 4 anys i la meva filla de 2 anys a veure el papa tocar per primera vegada. El Noah va fotografiar tot amb la seva càmera imaginària ; encara hem de revelar el carret abans de poder compartir les seves imatges 😉

The hypnotic drum-synth solo at the end of Little

The hypnotic drum-synth solo at the end of Little Creature made the song too long to sit in the middle of the album. But it made the perfect album ender so I chopped it off, pitch-shifted it down a step or two, and stuck it at the end as Little Creatures In The Night.

Fun fact: Little Creature, was inspired lyrically by my 2 year old daughter, Juna.

I managed to film the take during the recording process and here it is!

My debut album, Chordsplitter, is out today!

To celebrate I am releasing in parallel the live video performance of the first song on the album, Transient Memory, which was filmed in one shot last week in a beautiful old textiles factory heading up towards the Pyrenees mountains from Barcelona.

You can watch the full landscape version of the video in my posts section or on YouTube.

Thanks to @drawinginmyteepee for the cosmic album artwork and to @hitmakersstudio for providing that analogue warmth to a somewhat very digital album. Thanks to @konventzero for the beautiful video location and to @ofmindmusic for nailing that 1-shot. And thanks everyone for all the love and support whilst making the album these past 9 months.
